Hello GO DO FLY movers + shakers,
My name is Olivia DeFilippo and I am the founder and creator of Style by Liv, a fashion and lifestyle blog. I started my blog in college to share my unique glass-half-full-always perspective on life and share my outfit details with my friends back home. One year later, I became a Registered Nurse and my passion grew even bigger into the health and wellness space.
A little about me… I am passionate about matcha lattes, barre classes, clean beauty products and learning to love your body. Every day I make it my mission to be a light in the world for others. To lead with passion and positively impact the lives of others with my words and actions. I hope that Style by Liv is a place where you can learn about shopping sustainably, how to lead an overall healthier life and the impact clean beauty can have on your life.
In my daily 9-5 career, I am a psychiatric nurse helping to empower men and women to overcome and manage their psychiatric diagnoses so they can lead an overall more fulfilling life. I have cared for clients with eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and schizophrenia.
It doesn’t matter what your diagnosis is (or if you don’t have one at all) you CAN make lifestyle changes today to improve your life. You can eat healthier. You can find a hobby that brings you joy. You can walk outside daily in the fresh air. You can find your tribe of extremely supportive people. When you combine all of these you are on your way to an extremely rewarding life.
I want to help you all learn how to become more YOU. The bigger, badder version of yourself. The one that takes life by the horns and grabs everything you’ve ever wanted.
I believe in you, deeply.
I believe that you deserve to achieve your dreams.
My mission in life is to do my best to lead by example. I eat healthy most of the time, but I LOVE a good sweet treat. I read all the self-help books (sprinkled with some true crime). I intentionally spend my time. I’ve built a business that is financially rewarding and extremely lifechanging for so many. I have an incredible tribe and I love to build people up.
I’m not perfect but I want to showcase that this incredible life is possible with the right mindset. You CAN and you WILL.

What inspired you to be a nurse?
I was always a problem solver looking for logical answers. Nursing has allowed me to better understand the body in a logical way and to use my brain to help heal people. My number one goal in life is to help others become the best version of themselves. With nursing, I do that by empowering my patients to take care of their body, mind and spirit.
What do you bring to your every day life that sparks joy in you?
For me, creativity and connection really sparks joy. Connecting with others online or at a coffee shop fuels my energy. I love Instagram because of the photography and creative aspect. Taking pictures, creating videos and writing blog posts has always been a fun thing for me.
How do you hold yourself accountable?
This is one of my priorities for 2020. I am a dreamer which means I have grand plans and visions that don’t always come to life. I am working hard on making that a reality this next year by using the people around me to keep me accountable. You may be seeing more blog posts about my dreams coming soon…
What (or who) is your biggest motivator?
Currently, I am loving both Ed Mylett and Rachel Hollis. Ed Mylett is an incredible dreamer and entrepreneur who believes in Maxing Out his life. His podcast always amps me up and teaches me something new. Rachel Hollis is a great inspiration when discussing goal setting and goal getting.
What is your business all about?
Helping men and women reach their healthiest and highest potential.
What are a couple of tips you can give us next time we go shopping for beauty and wellness products?
I use a brand called Beautycounter, which is the leading brand in the clean beauty space. I love their products because they are high-quality, sourced sustainably, contain clean ingredients, packaged sustainably and are a certified B corporation.
The owner of Beautycounter is involved in political advocacy so this brand takes it one step further from creating awesome clean products to changing the beauty industry by advocating for more health-protective laws.
When shopping for products, I recommend downloading the app Healthy Living Powered by Skin Deep and Food Scores from the Environmental Working Group. With this app, you can scan the barcode of all personal care products (like mascara and soap) and food to find out the safety.

What are some of the 2020 trends for wellness?
I am ALL about the health trends for 2020. Some include Peloton, CBD products, Bakuchiol (which is plant-based retinol) and Plant-based alternatives for foods.
